Spanish Fan Fatale

(Click here to buy this painting.)

My daughter brought this fan home from her trip to Spain.  She knows I have a thing for fans.  It's something about the fact that they hide and reveal again and again that is so intriguing.  This one seems a little girlish and a little sparkly to me.  I like it but I think I actually like the shadow the best of all.  This painting is 12" x 16" unframed.

We went to this amazing place in Tuscany last fall and this is what I remember, the giant moon and the mists.  This painting is 12" x 16" and unframed.

God's Golden Hour

I have been away for 4 weeks traveling.  My husband and I went to London and Oxford to see my youngest daughter who was studying in Oxford and then we went to Chautauqua Institution, my favorite place in the universe!  It's a community in New York state, founded in the 1800's, that is focused on the arts, education, religion and recreation.  Each week has a theme, like Iran or Economics and lots of talks and events that tie into that theme.  I take drawing classes usually and then there is a speaker in the amphitheatre in the late mornings and symphony or dance in the evenings.  My favorite speaker was Azar Nafisi, the author of Reading Lolita in Tehran, because she is so passionate about her country and so appreciative of her freedom living here in this country.  She politely implied that we who have lived here all our lives do not appreciate our freedoms like we should.  I'm sure she is right about this.

Anyway, I painted this clock in Chautauqua.  I thought the intricacy of the medallion in the middle was so beautiful.  I am donating this painting to my church for a fundraiser so I thought the title was appropriate for that occasion.

My friends brought these daffodils to dinner and I had to paint them, especially with the weird light from the night window.  This painting is 18" x 24" unframed.
