The VAAASE

It feels like I have been painting this vase for most of my natural life! I don't mean painting it many times, I mean painting this particular painting for a looong time.  I do like the vase.  I think I got it as a wedding present many years ago.

Some paintings come together easily and some just take some thinking time.  I finally figured out that the background needed to have a pretty dark value to connect the top and the bottom darks of the painting and to direct your eye to the vase which is what I want you to see.  This painting is 18" x 24" unframed.

Struttin' Baby Blue

My friend Leslie asked me to paint this baby blue heron for her from a really fabulous photograph that she took at her bay house.  So I did!  I loved the light on the grasses and the little bird strutting his stuff without a care in the world.  My friend donated the painting to an auction and it sold and now, somebody else wants me to paint that same little bird.  So, here I go again.  Love that bird...  This painting is 14x11.
